Stallion Merlin with Young Filly in Sand Wash Basin
This photo was taken during the roundup in early September of 2021 in Sand Wash Basin, Colorado. Foal was separated from it's mom the previous day during the roundup, and Merlin was instant hero by bringing this new young foal to the trap site in search of it's mom. The foal was taken to a vet then foster care. Merlin escaped from the trap and is living free! The foal, a filly has been named StellaLuna and is in the care of a sanctuary.
